NCEEC hosted 5 summer day camps this summer:
Survival Day Camp - June 13, 2024
Campers learned skills designed to help them survive. Activities included primitive shelter building, fire making, archery, orienteering and more!
Birds of a Feather Day Camp - June 14, 2024
This camp had something to “Tweet” about! Campers experienced activities like birdwatching in a variety of habitats, a bird show, dissecting an owl pellet, games, crafts, and more!
Canoe Day Camp - June 17, 2024
Campers joined us for a paddle ‘sesh’ as we explored Nanjemoy Creek and the surrounding wetlands. Activities included watershed activities, paddle/canoe practice, wetland exploration by canoe, and canoe races.
Fishing for Fun Day Camp - June 18, 2024 Campers learned all about the amazing world of fish and got “hooked” on fun! Activities included fishing, shore seining, fish games, crafts, and more!
Art is Everywhere Day Camp June 20, 2024
Nature is awesome…simply take a moment to look around. Some of the best art ideas are inspired by nature.

Birds of a Feather!
Campers learned about birds and practiced birdwatching with binoculars. They even got to hold a live Screech Owl! |
Fishing for Fun!
Despite the rainy day, campers had a great time learning all about fish. |

They learned to fish with rods and how to catch fish with a shore seine. |
Art is Everywhere!
Campers explored their creative side using nature as their inspiration. They created ephemeral land art, made paper beads and used those beads to make snakes. |

Yuckology!
Campers got messy in this camp making oobleck and slime, exploring the smell and feel of marsh mud. They also explored the concept of decomposition through composting and a visit to the landfill.
